Whats So Bad About Hints For Writing a Historiographical Essay

What's So Bad About Hints For Writing a Historiographical Essay?Prof. Jeremy Popkin has published a new and very useful guidebook, called 'Hints for Writing a Historiographical Essay'. I can only say that this is not a great piece of literature as it does not contain any hints for writing an essay, but more like a guidebook to help the student to pick up his or her own thesis statement and put it in the right manner. The main problem with this guide is that the publisher uses the word 'hints' when they are actually using the term 'guides'. In fact, what they use is a manual for creating and arranging your thesis statement. There is no hint here for writing a thesis statement, but rather a guide to make sure you do not make any mistakes. In the guide, there are some examples of very bad grammar and grammatical construction. Ahem. One example of bad grammar is that they tell you to use double quotes as you would single quotes. In fact, it is the opposite. In addition, there are not enough instances where Prof. Jeremy Popkin points out the distinction between tenses. For example, he says you should use a subjective tone with regard to the thesis statement, while in fact, in a historical essay, it is generally an objective tone.Another problem with Prof. Jeremy Popkin's guide is that it has a few simple rules and guidelines for doing research, such as writing a chapter heading. But when you think about it, you already know how to do this. And in fact, this guide could be used as a practice essay and then read by a professor for feedback. However, the last section of the guide, 'Lining up your resources', is just too wordy for the average person, and it's basically just one paragraph with a list of books that the student can read and learn from. Finally, I do not know if this is a problem or not, but the guide is all about 'general' rules and they do not contain any tips on how to structure your thesis statement or how to express your thoughts in an essay. So if you are looking for a guide on how to write a thesis statement, I would recommend you to look for other guides that give hints on that. For example, Paul Johnston's 'Oral Historical Essay'.Overall, I really like the 'Hints for Writing a Historiographical Essay' guide, and I think it is really good, but I think the book is missing an important feature - tips on how to write a thesis statement. This guide tells you about different types of historical documents, but it does not tell you how to arrange them to form a coherent statement. It also is not clear how to deal with short stories, such as poem excerpts.
